Hi everyone, Amelia here! As you know, I’m a huge spa enthusiast, always seeking out new treatments and wellness experiences. But there’s one little (well, big and furry) detail that often complicates my travels: my beloved golden retriever, Buddy.

The Pet-Friendly Spa Dilemma

Let’s face it, finding a truly pet-friendly spa hotel or a dog-friendly spa resort is like finding a unicorn. Most luxury spa getaways and luxurious wellness retreats simply don’t allow pets. I understand the reasons – cleanliness, allergies, and ensuring a peaceful environment for all guests – but it can be frustrating when I’m longing for a relaxing escape.

Why Buddy Stays Behind

Buddy is a big part of my life, and I hate leaving him behind. But bringing him along on my spa vacations is rarely an option. Imagine trying to relax during a hot stone massage while worrying about Buddy barking in the room! It just wouldn’t be a peaceful luxury spa experience for either of us.

The Solution: Pet Hotels

Thankfully, there’s a great solution: dog hotels and cat hotels. These facilities are common in most Western countries and offer a safe and comfortable environment for pets while their owners are away. They provide everything from spacious kennels and play areas to grooming and even training services.

  • Peace of Mind: Knowing Buddy is in good hands allows me to fully enjoy my luxury spa experience.
  • Professional Care: Pet hotels have experienced staff who can handle any pet’s needs.
  • Socialization: Buddy gets to socialize with other dogs, which is great for his well-being.

Yes, pet boarding can be a bit pricey, but for me, it’s worth the peace of mind.

Sometimes, It’s Just Me-Time

Of course, sometimes the best solution is to leave Buddy at home with my boyfriend. He’s a wonderful dog-dad and loves spending time with Buddy. This allows me to enjoy some much-needed me-time or go on a relaxing spa break with friends.

Tips for Planning a Pet-Free Spa Getaway

  • Book in Advance: Pet hotels fill up quickly, especially during peak travel seasons.
  • Check Reviews: Read online reviews to ensure the pet hotel has a good reputation.
  • Pack Familiar Items: Bring Buddy’s favorite toys and blankets to make him feel more comfortable.
  • Consider a Local Spa Day: If you can’t be away for too long, enjoy a local day spa experience.

While spa travel with a dog can be tricky, it’s not impossible. With a little planning and the right resources, you can enjoy a relaxing spa vacation without worrying about your furry friend.
